Configure video and audio playback
Control playback, clip ranges, poster images and useful fallbacks.
Select saved media#
Select a supported video or audio object in Edit to open Playback. Confirm the Media component before changing it.
Use your own permitted media and check that it communicates the intended message. Media generation and upload workflows can have their own processing, cost and availability states.
Set playback behavior#
- Choose whether Autoplay, Muted, Loop and Show controls should apply.
- Set Volume where supported.
- For a clip, enter Start (seconds) and End (seconds) under Clip trim. Use Clear trim to restore the full range.
- Review On return to slide and On leaving slide for the intended presentation behavior.
- Choose Save playback settings and confirm the save.
Browsers can prevent autoplay with sound. Keep an obvious way to start playback manually when the content needs it.
Choose a useful still image#
For video, use Still image to select the poster. Adjust Poster fit and focal point where needed. A poster should make sense before playback and should not imply a result the video does not show.
Use Preview playback to inspect the current behavior. Check the start, end, controls and what remains visible when leaving or returning to the slide.
Retain the message without playback#
Add Video alternative text and the media text alternative when the content carries essential meaning. Test the muted or nonplaying state as part of review.
After reopening the project, confirm trim and playback settings. Browser preview behavior does not establish playback behavior on every intended native device.
