Components: reuse tested calculators
Insert a published component version, review upgrades and publish a reusable calculator when your access allows it.
Open the workspace component library#
Choose Components in the project toolbar to open Workspace components. The library shows releases eligible for your workspace. The current library workflow is for tested calculators; it is separate from inserting an ordinary chart or table on a slide.
Under Published components, choose a Component version. If the library is empty, no components have been published to your eligible workspace library. Choose Refresh library to read its latest releases.
Inspect and insert a pinned version#
- Choose the named component and version.
- Read its Parameters, including units and permitted ranges. Review its Capabilities, Accessibility, Tested target profiles and any Source slots.
- Choose the Destination slide.
- Select Insert pinned component and wait for the saved result.
- Inspect the inserted calculator and its defaults in the presentation.
Each inserted instance keeps its exact component version until you explicitly accept an upgrade. The library’s compatibility checks describe the tested component contract; they do not replace testing in your intended native client.
Compare an upgrade before accepting it#
When an upgrade is available, select its release, then choose the Pinned instance you want to assess. Select Preview upgrade.
The Migration preview shows Schema changes, Behavior changes, the Current instance and the proposed result After migration. Check the changed input definitions and outputs against the calculator’s intended use.
Choose Accept draft upgrade to retain the proposed upgrade, or Keep pinned version to leave the existing instance in place. Previewing alone does not change the saved instance. The upgraded draft needs its own calculator review before export. If the saved revision changed during review, preview the upgrade again.
Publish a calculator for reuse#
Publish from this deck is available to users with the workspace publication action. Other users can still browse eligible releases.
- Save the calculator in the presentation and complete its passing golden tests.
- Choose the Saved calculator.
- Choose a Component family, or select New workspace component.
- Enter a clear Component name and Semantic version.
- Choose Publish component version, then confirm the release appears in the library.
Parameters, source slots and compatibility declarations are derived from that saved revision. Publication creates a reusable library release; it does not silently update existing pinned instances.
Resolve a pending save or publication#
A pending indicator means Studio has retained an operation whose saved outcome still needs confirmation. Use Check saved outcome for a component save. If offered, use Retry same save or Retry same publication to reconcile the original operation.
If the panel reports a conflicting attempt, inspect the current saved presentation before discarding that attempt. Technical diagnostics counts component/version events; it does not display calculator entries or audience profiles.
The reusable starter collection#
The Components roadmap expands the collection beyond the current supported calculator workflow. It brings a visual catalog, editable evidence and metric cards, hotspots, comparison tools, accordions, timelines, glossary terms, guided steps, checklists, polls and media galleries.
The public backlog includes the individual requests so you can vote and explain which building blocks would help your team. Starter and Expansion scope describe the delivery sequence; they are not release dates.
